This course is a survey of major political, economic,
social, diplomatic and intellectual trends and events
in United States history from the end of
Reconstruction (1877) to the present. The course
emphasizes the building of the modern industrial
society, growing involvement in international
relations, the evolution of the American nation and
social reform movements.
